Violence Against Women and Girls is recognized by the global community (i.e. nation states, political and humanitarian organizations) as a violation of human rights, with devastating consequences at the individual, family, community and national development, impacting people’s physical and psychological health as well as their social and economic development.

OrangeALOUD! Is a Take A Stand Against Gender-based Violence program which seeks to establish a grassroots Advocacy, Awareness and Action-driven Campaign to identify, engage and activate a wide range of relevant stakeholders to drive community-based solutions that address root causes of Gender-based Violence.

Gender-based Violence directly and indirectly has a negative impact on the path to sustainability by reducing a person’s potential, capabilities and wellbeing, thus hindering sustainable development.

The OrangeALOUD! Project is structured to deploy 62,000 OrangeALOUD! Volunteers who will enable ward-level engagement and implementation of Local Action Plans to tackle violence against women and girls.

The goal of the OrangeALOUD! Campaign is to enable the reduction of the occurrence of gender-based violence (GBV), which will help drive progress across the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Reducing GBV improves the health of women and children and wellbeing of families. It reduces risks to HIV and sexually transmitted diseases, improves economic productivity and educational attainment, and reduces risks of mental illness and substance abuse, among other benefits. Localized Action Plans to address GBV can serve as a driver for better outcomes, reduced poverty, increased peace, inclusion and cooperation among civil society, government and the private sector.
